The End Is Near. So Is The Beginning.

Here we are, almost to the end of the year.

Which also means we are the same distance to the beginning of a new year.

Make the new year an important beginning for you
Beginnings, endings. They are not separate, they are the same.

What makes this year’s end more poignant is that we are in midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. While normally the end of the year might bring celebrations, this time around, all must be wary of furthering the pandemic. There may be joy, but truthfully, not enough.

So Let Us Look Forward to a Virus-Free New Year
Since virus-free will not happen by December 31 of this year, it hopefully will happen soon. Since everyone who will get vaccinated will be vaccinated on different days, then I can say that the new year will start randomly for everyone. For some front-line workers who already have received the vaccine, it already has happened. For the rest of us, each will have their own individual new year. We all hope it will happen in 2021.

Much remains unknown. Getting the vaccine delivered is a logistical nightmare. Corralling everyone who wants the vaccine to an orderly queue will be a large challenge. We can all hope that the humanity in us will prevail. I can imagine the situation as like relief operations for a war-torn or storm-tossed population; tempers can fray.

Don’t Eat The Menu
We’re all familiar with restaurants (back when we could go out and eat) where pictures of the dishes were printed on the menu. We never mistake the menu and the pictures on it for the actual food. Out goal is to eat the food, not the menu.

Don’t Stop
With all the emotional and psychological mayhem that has occurred this year as a result of the pandemic, many routines have been lost. If someone loses their income, it is understandable they will curtail their savings and investments. In fact they may need to liquidate some for survival purposes. But if you are still employed, I think it would be unwise to stop saving and investing.

Let’s consider what has happened with this pandemic. If we went into it with savings and investments, then our situation would be so much better than those without. It is impossible to know what would happen next, but I do know that having assets means having financial strength.

Do This
Keep safe. Stay healthy. Get the vaccine when it gets to you. Keep your family safe. Have a happy new year.

And you? Let me know our thoughts here.
