Trump authoritarianism is growing in America. It is called fascism.
About That Hat
Trump and his supporters have worn a hat that says “Trump Was Right About Everything.” Grandiose and bizarre. But maybe you would like to know the origin of this phrase.
It is originally from fascist Benito Mussolini during his reign in Italy. Signs saying “Mussolini ha sempre ragione‘ (Italian for “Mussolini is Right About Everything”) were displayed frequently. See illustrations.

How They Do It
In case you are wondering how quickly both Steven Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel we both taken off the air, here’s my take on how it happened.
All radio and television stations in America are licensed by the Federal Communications Commission. Usually this is a straight forward affair involving money. But these times we live in are different.
If the head of the FCC calls up a television network and threatens to suspend or cancel their license, then the network has almost no choice. To lose one’s license is to go off the air and lose millions or billions of dollars.
[Since writing the above, news reports confirm this is exactly what happened. ]
This is what happens when too much power is concentrated in a dictatorian.
Down The Rat Hole
As if there was any question about our descent into fascism: “President Trump said federal regulators should revoke broadcast licenses over late-night hosts who speak negatively about him, a day after ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel’s show “indefinitely” after pressure from the Federal Communications Commission chairman.”
War
As mentioned in lhe previous post, we’re likely to have a war sometime soon. Trump did not rename the Defense Department to the War Department without the need for a war. My bet is on a country that does not have the resources to match he U.S.: Venezuela. Soon the propaganda news will ramp up all sorts of accusations of Venezuelan misdeeds as justifications. Watch for similarities with Iraqi WMDs.
This Will Not End Well?
What will it take to get rid of American fascism? Maybe a big war… that’s what it took in Europe. As a reminder, here is how one of the the leading fascists ended up:

It would be to our ever-lasting shame if the same thing happened here. We have the capacity to settle our differences without violence.

“Autarchia” is Italian for autarchy.
