“SEC hands down $35 million fine in Yahoo hack”
http://money.cnn.com/2018/04/24/technology/yahoo-altaba-hack-sec-fine/index.html

The SEC fined Altaba, successor to Yahoo, $35 million for a data breach that occurred in 2014. The breach was not revealed until September 2016. The breach affected 500 million accounts.

That means each account was worth seven cents. Seven Cents!

All of the money goes to the U.S. government, none to the affected users.

The announcement of the 500 million account breach was not all the breaches Yahoo suffered.

A breach announced later in 2016 affected all three billion accounts that existed at the time at Yahoo.

No word if there will be any further fines. Or if anyone still uses Yahoo.
