Slowly, then All At Once
There’s a famous item in Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises:
“How did you go bankrupt?” Bill asked.
“Two ways,” Mike said. “Gradually and then suddenly.”
It has been said that the same description is applicable to the loss of civil liberties. When it starts, there are marginal cases that occur slowly. When the main constriction occurs, it will be sudden and all at once.

I have a theory. Every person who attains extreme power unconsciously ends up gravitating to problems that will plague them forever. Attempting to “own” Gaza is one of them.
Trump’s killing US EV Mandate Boosts China’s Industry, Exports
On his inauguration day, Donald Trump issued an executive order derailing the U.S.’s efforts to transition to electric vehicles.
This action is likely to make buying electric vehicles more expensive in the U.S. The result is likely to hinder US’s electric vehicle competition domestically and internationally.
It is well known that China’s electric vehicle industry is very strong, and is expanding internationally.
By curtailing the US’s ability to manufacture electric vehicles, Trump has ceeded electric vehicle domination to China. China will now be able to grow its electric vehicle industry globally without fear of American competition.
The Decline
The desire to end birthright citizenship in the United States by Trump foreshadows more extreme decisions that may come. Aside from deporting the undocumented, documented people who were awaiting their asylum cases are also being deported. It seems country of origin is what defines who will be subject to deportation.
There are questions in MAGA world whether native Americans are citizens. This is even though there are specific laws that dictate that native Americans are citizens.
With this in mind, it is totally logical to assume that the following further will be expectations of what MAGA group wants to do:
– cancellation of some permanent residencies (green card holders) and deportations.
– cancellation of some naturalizations (citizenships) and deportations.

The MAGA Wet Dream
Trump’s America is now rounding up immigrants, both undocumented and documented. Many are being housed in prisons. Texas (here and here) has volunteered to set up concentration camps (affectionately known as “detention centers”).
The following 1943 picture perfectly displays MAGA’s desires regarding immigrants.
