Almost No One Cares About Money

Or so it seems sometimes. Let me clarify. Everyone cares about money, but few do what it takes.

Crazy Town
We are in a consumer-crazed society. We buy and struggle, struggle and buy. We think stuff will make us happy. Gosh, we even think that money will make us happy.

Truth Be Told
Now I will tell you the truth. Stuff doesn’t make people happy. All the struggling and buying won’t make people happy. Money doesn’t make people happy.

Nothing makes people happy.

Happiness is a by-product of actions and activities and results. That is my opinion, you are free to disagree. I used to look for things and experiences that would make me happy, and while there were momentary lapses into happiness, I was still the same person when it was all over. I found that when I found myself happy, it was a result of reflecting on the favorable changes that brought about a positive state in my life.

Money, Anyone?
Money, like most things, is a tool, and since money is a tool, don’t hurt yourself.

Why Do I Say Almost No One Cares About Money
While we are a money-crazed and consumer-crazed society, hardly anyone cares enough about their own money to do what needs to be done. And what is it that “needs to be done“?

We are blinded and mesmerized by the advertising propaganda we see all around us. Here is a secret: none of that advertising and propaganda is real. It is all an illusion to divert you from taking care of yourself.

What Needs To Be Done
What needs to be done is to manage one’s money successfully. While many live with such low income that survival is measured in pennies where nothing can be squeezed from one’s budget, that is not the case for many others. And here is what needs to be done:

Live below one’s means. Save and invest the rest.

How many have little to no savings? For some there is no choice. For others, it is a choice they make without thinking.

If you are a person who has enough income to live on, yet you have little saved, I want to tell you what worked for me:

Live below one’s means. Save and invest the rest.

Know this: if you put something aside now, you will have more later. Less Now, More Later.

Live below one’s means. Save and invest the rest. That’s all it takes. There is nothing else.
